Kyrsten Sinema!  Politically she's a train wreck, and hopefully emotionally, and has daddy issues if I am to have any shot.  lol!

You can't make this up. Now the Black students want a separate room in the "Multicultural Room" or just their own building. Evidently, being Inclusive requires Exclusion.

Quote
American University has created a space for students of different identities to come together and foster a sense of community, but some students recently complained it’s too inclusive.
The room, known as the Hub for Organizing Multiculturalism and Equity, or HOME, opened in November 2017 in the wake of alleged hate crimes against black students.

More recently, a feature in The Eagle campus newspaper on the 1-year-old room detailed how some students are frustrated that officials allow students of any ethnicity to use it, rather than only students of color, and also that “several students said they viewed HOME as a response to their request for a black house.”

“What we needed was a large community space that the entire black community could get together and support one another,” student Ma’at Sargeant, a member of the Black Student Alliance, told the newspaper.
And more than black students are voicing concern.

Sam Liang, a member of the Asian American Student Union, said “I understand why they would’ve opened it to everyone because exclusivity isn’t something that’s really garnered on campus … but it makes it feel like the point of it isn’t there anymore.”

Othniel Malcolm Andrew Harris, a student who has been involved in organizing protests at the university, told The College Fix that HOME is not enough for black students on campus after reports of racist incidents from a few years back.

Harris explained that other schools, including in the D.C. area, have “Black Houses,” which are on-campus houses dedicated to black students, and he wants the same for American University.

Spin Zone / U.S. to pull out of Syria

I think this is a good thing!  Will liberal/progressives (Democrats) acknowledge Trump is doing the right thing here?

The U.S. military is preparing to withdraw its forces from Syria, people familiar with the matter said Wednesday, a move that marks an abrupt reversal of the American military strategy in the Middle East.

Spin Zone / Paris Riots
« on: December 08, 2018, 10:32:37 AM »
Anyone watching these?  Evidently, the normally passive French are upset over yet more taxes this time aimed at "addressing" Man Made Climate Change and Carbon.  The UK charges draconian taxes for this stuff, and France wants to do it now.  They have backed off due to the push back from vicious demonstrations in the streets of Paris.

Pilot Zone / How unstable were WWII fighter aircraft?
« on: November 19, 2018, 09:21:36 AM »
As we all have done, I have read some stories about flying WWII fighter aircraft.  Today, we also know the fighter aircraft get their maneuverability by instability, but the computer controls that aspect of keeping the plane from departing controlled flight, or corrects for it when it happens.

Obviously, they did not have computers to compensate for instability.  So how difficult was it to "safely" fly an ME-109, Spitfire, FW-190, P-51, P-40, Zero, P-47, etc?  Was the approach to landing stall/spin a major problem for lower time pilots?

Not that I will ever be able to own, nor fly a warbird like the above, but can a relatively good GA pilot be trained to safely fly them, or is the task very daunting?

Pilot Zone / LSA gross weight increas to 3,600 lbs!
« on: October 11, 2018, 05:50:49 AM »
If this is true, this is GREAT news.

Quote
A high-ranking FAA source has confirmed that the FAA plans to almost triple the maximum weight for most light sport aircraft to 3600 pounds in rulemaking that will be introduced in January. The source confirmed the scant details of a Facebook post written by AOPA Senior VP of Media and Outreach Tom Haines from the AOPA Regional Fly-In at Carbondale, Illinois. “Great news out of AOPA: your freedom to fly Fly-in at Carbondale,” Haines wrote. “In January the FAA will issue a notice of proposed rulemaking increasing max weight for a light sport airplane from 1320 lbs to 3600 lbs

Pilot Zone / I'm sick. Friend just lost his Bonanza to a hangar fire
« on: October 04, 2018, 10:35:56 AM »
One of my best friends has been flying since he was 16 (he's 64 now), and has had one of the nicest V35B's in the country.  It has the Colemill Starfire conversion (300HP, four blade Q tip prop), and the latest Garmin, and other avionics.  He has spared no expense on the panel, and upkeep of the plane which he has had since 2003.

Well, the neighboring hangar had a fire that consumed about 1/3 of the hangars in his row.  There are Barons on either side of him, and they both got torched along with his plane.  He is sick of course, as am I.  Ugh.  :(

Spin Zone / Obama Admin - Oppressive Regime?
« on: January 10, 2018, 05:41:40 AM »
During Obama's eight years in office, I believed Conservative, Libertarians, or anyone that did not tow the Progressive line was under siege.  Agencies within the Administration were actively going after those that weren't Party Apparatchik.  The NSA was listening to our conversations, examining our emails, texts, website posts, etc.  A big reason why I don't do Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.  The IRA, EPA, DOJ, BATF, and other agencies were actively punishing political opponents that weren't Democrat.

I believe that as we look back on this, it will be considered a dark age, not unlike Stalinist Russia (Soviet Union), or Nazi Germany.  Possibly, those analogies are too strong as there were no mass murders, or gulags that we know of, but the other characteristics are certainly there.

Spin Zone / Liberal America has a poltical violence problem

Liberalism...

The home of racism masked as social justice, the home of thievery disguised as entitlement programs, the home intolerance masked as morality, the home of violence masked as peaceful protest

The above is in the comment section from this Opinion piece from an outsider, ironically a gay man (not a staff writer of the two local liberal rags).

Quote
Hamburg, Germany, July 2017. As world leaders gather for the G20 summit, far-left “anti-fascist” (Antifa) rioters set fire to cars and property, terrorize residents, and injure more than 200 police officers attempting to keep the peace. Did you miss it? CNN’s initial reports referred to the “protesters” as “eclectic” and “peaceful”.

But you need not cross the shining seas to experience violence, destruction of property and a general dismantling of liberal values from the political left. You could simply visit America’s elite college campuses like Yale or Middlebury or Berkeley, where tomorrow’s leaders attempt to shut down conservative voices with protest or riots. At Middlebury, rioting students landed liberal professor Allison Stranger in a neck brace for the crime of defending a conservative academic’s right to speak. At Berkeley, mobs of students created a “war zone” ahead of a planned visit from conservative provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos, injuring Trump supporters and causing $100,000 in damages.

Or head to Portland, Oregon, one of the most liberal cities in the nation in the heart of the progressive Pacific Northwest, which last week Politico labeled “America’s Most Politically Violent City.” The progressive paradise– where Republicans are virtually an extinct species – has witnessed millions in damages attributed to the same types of anti-fascists-in-name-only that kept Hamburg residents paralyzed in fear this month. A “counter-protest” to a planned pro-Trump rally landed 14 Antifa in jail for attacking the police with explosives and bricks

Spin Zone / Germany passes internet "Hate Speech" law
« on: June 30, 2017, 06:02:25 AM »
Looks like the Third Reich is back in power in Germany.  Maybe Hitler was right.  It will last 1000 years.   >:(

Quote
BERLIN (AP) – German lawmakers approved a bill on Friday aimed at cracking down on hate speech on social networks, which critics say could have drastic consequences for free speech online.
The measure approved is designed to enforce the country’s existing limits on speech, including the long-standing ban on Holocaust denial. Among other things, it would fine social networking sites up to 50 million euros ($56 million) if they persistently fail to remove illegal content within a week, including defamatory “fake news.”

“Freedom of speech ends where the criminal law begins,” said Justice Minister Heiko Maas, who was the driving force behind the bill

Spin Zone / Zuckerburg, and Elon Musk - Guaranteed Income for all!
« on: June 29, 2017, 07:30:30 AM »
I think these enormously wealthy guys (Musk government subsidized) should start SHARING their Billions with us so we can have a guaranteed income.  What say you?  The premise is that if people have a known cushion they could pursue doing what they really want.  Realistic?  Or will they smoke dope, and sit home?

Credible projections now forecast that 40 percent of all jobs in the United States today could be eliminated by 2030, just 13 years from now, have led futurists, labor market analysts, and leading CEOs to ask what will become of all the workers soon to be displaced by technology, and whether industrialized democratic societies, seeking stability in such a radically reshaped economic environment, might benefit from some orderly redistribution of wealth. And leading the charge are two of America’s most prominent titans of the digital age.

In a commencement address to graduates at Harvard University last month, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said the coming wave of automation and displacement will require “a new social contract” between the government and the governed. “We should have a society that measures progress not by economic metrics like GDP but by how many of us have a role we find meaningful,” Zuckerberg said. "We should explore ideas like universal basic income to give everyone a cushion to try new things.

Spin Zone / Pregnant woman runs over purse snatcher!
« on: June 29, 2017, 07:02:58 AM »
This woman is lucky she wasn't charged with attempted murder.  I am not a fan of thieves, but her response was illegal.  He was no longer a threat to her, and you can't run somebody over for theft.  He was fleeing, and she mowed him down with her SUV.  Hormones?  :)
Still she has guts!

Quote
A pregnant woman delivered swift punishment to a purse snatcher by running him down with her SUV in a Walmart parking lot in North Carolina, according to a report.

Christine Braswell, 26, told WLOS that she found the man rummaging through her SUV on Wednesday afternoon in Asheville before he took off running with her purse.

“Me being five months pregnant, I chased a little ways then come back, jumped in the car, threw it in gear and come across the curb and ran him over,” she said.

“I was not going to let him get away with it. It’s not right, it’s not fair,” she added.

The suspect, Robert Raines, who was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, was charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny and misdemeanor damage to property.

For her part, Braswell was charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon. She doesn’t face hard labor

Spin Zone / Antifas are at it again, now it is Gettysburg

Officials in Gettysburg are bracing for protests this weekend coinciding with the 154th anniversary of the Civil War battle fought there.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans and  a patriots’ group called Real 3% Risen, have received special use permits for 11 a.m to 6 p.m. Saturday in a special section north of Meade’s Headquarters.

“We make accommodations for people who want to exercise their First Amendment rights,” said Katie Lawhon, a spokeswoman for the Gettysburg National Military Park.

Officials also are aware of plans for other rallies that have been announced on social media but have not obtained permits and there are unconfirmed reports that anarchists plan to burn Confederate flags during the anniversary of the battle

Reports that the anti-fascist group Antifa plans to burn Confederate flags and desecrate graves has prompted calls on social media for other groups to gather in Gettysburg to counter anarchist protesters.

The anniversary of the battle, which raged from July 1 to July 3, 1863, comes at a time when there is a growing movement to remove Confederate symbols from public spaces.
[/size]

Gettysburg is one of my favorite places.  Just so much history there, and maybe a few ghosts running around.  It is a beautiful place that when not crowded is very tranquil.  If these Antifa types burn flags, and desecrate graves like the say they are going to they are in for a rude awakening.

Spin Zone / Google gets fined by EU for $2.71 Billion
« on: June 27, 2017, 11:56:29 AM »
Quote
BRUSSELS—The European Union’s antitrust regulator on Tuesday fined Alphabet  Inc.’s  GOOGL -1.98%▲  Google a record €2.42 billion ($2.71 billion) for favoring its own comparison-shopping service in search results and ordered the search giant to apply the same methods to rivals as its own when displaying their services.

The decision, if it is upheld, would force Google to reshape the way it presents search results for products in Europe, the latest move by Brussels to rein in the tech world. The decision could also have further-reaching implications for other Google products and services—as well as those from competitors.

These search engines have been found to deliver biased leftist results, and slanted to certain companies, and sites.  Also if you use google, MSN, or Yahoo email, anything regarding guns goes to your SPAM folder.  At least it has for my MSN account.

Spin Zone / U.S. getting older, more "diverse"
« on: June 22, 2017, 06:28:27 AM »
Our demographics are certainly changing.  The key is that new immigrants that are "diverse" in nature assimilate, embrace American values, want to become "American", and become productive, law abiding citizens.  I don't care about their skin color, ethnicity, race, or religion.  All I care about is that they don't turn us into communist Europe.

Quote
WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States is growing older and more ethnically diverse, a trend that could put strains on government programs from Medicare to education, the Census Bureau reported Thursday.

Every ethnic and racial group grew between 2015 and 2016, but the number of whites increased at the slowest rate — less than one hundredth of 1 percent or 5,000 people, the Census estimate shows. That's a fraction of the rates of growth for non-white Hispanics, Asians and people who said they are multi-racial, according to the government's annual estimates of population.

President Donald Trump's core support in the racially divisive 2016 election came from white voters, and polls showed that it was especially strong among those who said they felt left behind in an increasingly racially diverse country. In fact, the Census Bureau projects whites will remain in the majority in the U.S. until after 2040.

"Even then, (whites) will still represent the nation's largest plurality of people, and even then they will still inherit the structural advantages and legacies that benefit people on the basis of having white skin," said Justin Gest, author of "The New Minority," a book about the 2016 election
