They lust after the total power that dictators like Chavez and Castro enjoy, and the celebrity that a Guevera had.

Really deep down they want to be totalitarian thugs who can tell others what they can and cannot do, they crave it like a meth addict.  They believe that their view of the world and what ought to be done is the only 'right' one and when someone believes that with their level of fervor, the ends justifies the means, no matter how brutal, no matter how ugly.

Not hard at all to understand really.

I was being a bit facetious as I know they crave power ultimately.  They even glorify, murderers, rapists, torturers, and thieves.  The best cigars by far come from Nicaragua, by the way, not from Cuba.   

It's curious that Trump is appointing so many people that have been critical of him.  Is it an attempt to mend fences, or does he really think they are the best in spite of the fact that they have disagreed with him in the past?

I think it is part of his consensus buildings.  He will need cooperation from the establishment, and others to get his agenda through. 

If Rudy can't be AG I would like to see him at Homeland Security.  And I still want Bolton at State.

Me too, but State will be Romney.  Maybe Bolton will be offered an Ambassador position.

And the more complex, and costly they are the more the break on their own.  I would rather have reliability, than the complexity that will render the vessel useless.  I was a contractor tp a very large defense company in the D.C. area, in an area relatively unrelated to defense, but it did give me an immersion into the industry.  It is ALL about technology now.  They had more IT people than anything else.  A lot of it revolved around the NSA, but also they did a lot of battlefield, and naval situational awareness work which was all computer, and satellite based.  Well, that is the first thing the enemy will take out, so where are we?

I think Steingar's absence is more due to the prop strike than that election. He seemed to disappear right after the strike.

It must have really scared him because I'm sure insurance is covering it.

Congress critters are prohibited from making fundraising calls from their government office.  So the all go across the street to an office supplied by their party.  They are generally "encouraged" (ie, required) to make cold calls asking for funds for 4 hours a day.  That is 4 hours a day they are not working for us.
