I vehemently dislike the tax cut because it is regressive and adds 1.5 trillion to the deficit according to the GAO.

Take a walk down to the Economics Dept and talk to a non Progressive economist.  Also check the record Federal Income Tax REVENUE after the tax cuts.  Due to a GROWING economy, more Tax REVENUE is being generated at the lower Tax Rates.  The pie is getting larger, and therefore, so is the government's pieces they take.

Progressives love higher tax RATES as they think this is a way to get government more money.  It often acts as a way to slow the economy which can result in less tax REVENUE.  Focus on tax revenue, not tax rates.

The Feds, and many states have a SPENDING PROBLEM, not a Revenue problem.

From azure in esponse 18 of this thread:
“So at this point I'm a female ex-liberal with libertarian leanings....”

I presume she meant “gay” generically to include lesbian? I only ever noted azure’s background in physics, which to me was the only personal aspect worth noting.  ;D

Thanks Jim.  I think your assumption is correct.

Maybe here, but I did at least once before on PoA. You must just have missed it. ;)

I also thought you were a female, not a Gay man, so thanks for clearing that up!  :)

I have previously described Obama's eight years as an "economic MALAISE".  It was also a malaise in other ways, and absolutely horrid in others, like race relations.  There was a pervasive lack of positives as he often talked down to America, and talked the country down, especially to foreigners.

He told us "we didn't build that".  He also said we, as a country needed to be Fundamentally Transformed.  Meaning we were SO bad that only a total, and complete change could do anything.  To want to fundamentally transform something, you must think it is evil, and completely broken.  You actually have to HATE it, and I do think both he and Michelle as well as other like Valerie Jarrett did hate American.

Under Obama, the U.S. was heading towards a USSR, or East Germany style bureaucracy with the politicization, and weaponization of the Intelligence, and Law Enforcement agencies as well as the IRS, EPA, Interior, etc.  Many Americans were afraid of the NSA, CIA, FBI, etc, and still are to a degree.

^^^^^^There is no understanding the progressive mindset as there is no logic, nor reason.  It is mostly lies to advance an agenda, that's all.

^^^^^Thanks for the insight.  You and Michael are our "boots on the ground" in the university environment.  The Administrators vs Teachers/Professors is not restricted to universities.  I see it in our own public school systems.  Too much bureaucracy, and wastes of money in both.

I remember a TV interview with Obama when gasoline went over $4 per gallon.  He said he was OK with the higher gas prices, but thought maybe they went up too fast.  His rationale was that people would use less gasoline if the prices were higher, thus helping MMGW, and the planet.  Didn't matter that it created great hardship for the working poor who don't have a choice but to drive to work.

That is the problem with the Left.  They never think about the unintended consequences of their policies, and positions.  NOTHING good comes from higher energy prices.  It only hurts the poor, and middle income earners.

There is often a disconnect between students viewing themselves as the customer because in their minds many are NOT paying their tuition.  The government, through loans, and loan guarantees are seen to be paying their tuition.  It is "free money" to them, and that is why many don't think they have to pay it back.  Want to see why universities charge so much for tuition, and room and board?  Blame the government.  They charge as much as the max loan amounts.

And then there is Obama mentor, avowed Communist, Frank Marshall Davis.  Quite possibly his real father.  If you read Obama's book, "Dreams of my Father" that comes through as well as his blueprint for Fundamental Transformation.  Which he chillingly talked about as a candidate, and then President.  Fortunately, he was either too lazy to implement it fully, and/or the American people largely rejected it by taking away Congress from the Dems two years into his term.  Obamacare was all he could muster.  That was bad enough!

Students are not the customer, they are the product.  The purpose of a university is to prepare the product to be in the best position possible to be purchased ("hired") by the real customer, the employer.  This view has largely disappeared from universities and the load of preparing the product has shifted to the customer.  "Some assembly required."

I think that is somewhat true.  However, I think it is true for young undergrads.  Adults that go back to school to get degrees, and grad degrees for specific, career enhancing reasons are more the customers.  When paying that much money they better be getting what they are paying for from the university.  Don't waste my valuable time, and money.

Okay I guess I have to bite. What on earth does this have to do with orgasms?  I gotta tell you, there was nothing remotely sexy about any of it. Did I miss a thread with orgasm stories?

It was an attempt at humor.  I guess I failed.
