Wow. Just wow... If charities were effective at lifting people out of poverty, there wouldn't have ever been a need for government programs in the past or now. There is nothing, I repeat, nothing to stopping charity from getting people out of poverty right now! Charities are ineffective and while they are great to have and do their best, the results show they are not enough.

wow just wow right back at you.

If the Government was effective at charity, then the billions and billions and billions pissed away would have had some impact (other than trying to buy votes for the democrat pukes)

Spin Zone / Re: Dick Morris: 2016 a repeat of the ’60s
« on: March 19, 2016, 07:54:31 AM »
I agree with much of it.  I think there are parallels.  The big difference is the 60's was about things that could go away.  The Vietnam War, and institutionalized racism.  Both of these are long gone.  Yes, we still have racism, but it is not backed by institutions any longer.  Our issues today are more complicated, and germane to our existence as a country.  Communism/socialism vs Capitalism.  Free speech vs PC thought control, etc.  These are issues now ingrained on our youth as positive traits for America, polarly opposite to the Constitution.

Will the Constitution matter in a post Hillary Presidential election?

Being born poor is not a life choice.

Being addicted to government handouts, and refusing to work for less than the government freebies, is a life choice.

No, everyone wants equal opportunities.  But if you think that the opportunities seen by an impoverished person from Appalachia are the same as a middle class resident of one of the surrounding metropoles, I disagree.
But if you place a middle class person from the surrounding area deep into Appalachia, the opportunities equalize and in some cases benefit the local more than the newcomer.  The point being, most poor people are poor due to poor choices made in life.  Remaining in an area without opportunity and bellyaching about lack of opportunity can be remedied by packing up and moving.

.  My guess is if this was anyone else it wouldn't even be newsworthy.

You are right.  If it were almost anyone else, they would have had their careers ended and they would probably wind up in jail, and nobody would know because it wouldn't be "newsworthy".

Spin Zone / Re: Medicare for all.....
« on: March 11, 2016, 01:46:15 PM »

This is a simple thing.  The US spends more per capita on medical care than any of the industrialized nation.  Yet we still see poorer outcomes nearly across the board.  We spending more and getting less.  I don't care if the cat is black or white, I only care if it catches mice.

That all sounds peachy as long as you leave out the fundamental and structural problems of health systems in places like the UK.

Are American patients being "parked" in closets and hallways for days, being forced to sleeping chairs or on the floors, or denied access to water or oxygen in our hospitals?

http://stanfordreview.org/article/public-healthcare-in-uk-faces-major-problems/

Are Americans being denied hip replacements because of budget cuts, or being made to wait 6-12 months for "elective" surgeries?  Are Americans SOL if they need a doctor after 5:00 pm like they are in the UK, which has a fraction of the emergency facilities that we have here?

Anyway, pip pip. Cherio. Carry on. Long live the Queen.

Gotta love conservatives bitching endlessly about welfare when we spend orders magnitude more on white-collar welfare.

As it seems YOU are a perfect example of white collar welfare, the statement you made is rather 'unusual.' Of course you will defend your circumstances with rhapsodic statements about how vital and crucial your 'research' has been, but living off the taxpayers IS STILL living off the taxpayers.

In order to change that, the fairy tales surrounding history must be exposed and done away with.
Do you mean the fairy tale that says that living on government assistance is easier or preferable to going out into the real world and earning a living?  I know that after a while people get discouraged and just give up, or that some people just don't believe they have the ability to earn more by working than government assistant pays.

I also think that when people become dependent on government assistance, the idea of losing it is frightening especially after they have already lost confidence in themselves.  And that is what liberalism does; it replaces peoples perception of self reliance with the security of government reliance.

Spin Zone / Re: Question for the Trumpkins?
« on: February 12, 2016, 08:22:52 AM »
Jeff, did you ever get an answer to this question?
This has been asked and answered already - Ronald Reagan, inarguably the most impactful conservative leader in American history, would not pass this 'test' since he did not 'passionately advocate conservative positions when not running for office'.  He was campaigning for Governor of CA when he gave the Time for Choosing speech - and had been a Democrat previously.

Trump has used plain language to explain his previous monetary support for candidates on BOTH side of the spectrum and it makes total sense to anyone who has run a business, let alone a large concern where government interference and oversight is arguably more intrusive and open to abuse than many (real estate development/banking).  Anyone not accepting that is simply not listening with an open mind IMO.

Does anyobody recall Trump nearly getting into the mix before now?  Started in 1988 friends, there was a draft Trump movement within the Republican party.  He almost ran as a Reform Party/Independent in 2000, and as a Republican in 2012.  None of these are Democrat, even Reform Party was Center/Right.

It is a total bullshit strawman because it limits the timeframe/frame of reference in such a way as to 'theoretically' only favor one answer and as pointed out, not even Reagan would pass given the restrictions on timeframe.

One thing you can say about Trump, like him or hate him, is that he has made people take a hard look at both sides, and has actually made them talk about real issues confronting this country.

This is where I appreciate Trump.  He is anti PC as I think much of this country is but we've been bullied by corporations, the media, education, government, etc.  I like his focus on the economy, the 2A, and illegal immigration.  However, is he saying these things just to win the primary, or does he really believe them?  I'm not so sure.

Spin Zone / Re: Socialism Explained
« on: January 25, 2016, 06:18:51 AM »
That's not socialism, that's being smart.  Socialism is the centralization of an economy and its production.  Armies, police and fire by necessity fall under the control of government, that isn't socialism and we won't let you redefine the term to make it seem innocuous.   Health care, food production, energy production, manufacturing and pretty much everything else are best left to markets, where the weak producers fall by the wayside and the successful are rewarded. There are example after example of socialist failures throughout history and even in modern times.

Also, things like National Defense and interstate commerce were signed off on by the states in the Constitution.  We accepted those things for the greater good, and because it makes sense.  That other socialist crap doesn't and was NOT AGREED TO by the states.  Remember, we are a collection of states first, not the Oligarchy we've become.

Steingar doesn't understand the Constitution, nor the basic concepts of our country.  He's been brainwashed by his cultural bias, and the faculty lounge.
