The WSJ editorial board noted that Trump discussed abortion at the New Jersey rally:

Late in the Wildwood rally, Mr. Trump addressed abortion. For the record, it is worth quoting. The media covered the s-word but had nothing on the a-word.
“We’ve also gotten abortion out of the federal government and back to the states,” Mr. Trump said, a reference to the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (2022), which overturned Roe v. Wade.
“[It] is now up to the will of the people in each state,” he said. “Some states will be more conservative and others will be more liberal. . . . Some will have more weeks than others, or many more weeks.”
In a bow to political reality, he described the recent results on abortion ballot measures in two Midwestern states: “If you take a look at Ohio, they just voted a different vote than people thought, much more liberal, you would say, much more, as they would say, progressive. . . . Kansas the same thing. But that’s the way it is, and it’s something that we should cherish.”
Mr. Trump’s position as he described it Saturday is more in sync with what Nikki Haley said during the primaries. If Mr. Trump blunts this issue, a huge crack opens in the Biden “extremist” strategy.
