My bad for the denigration.  I just take a very, very dim view of bigotry.

Do you notice the weather and instinctively think it would be a nice day to fly?

Has the long layoff from flying made you more irritable?  (admittedly, the election results might make it hard to tell...)

Would you consider selling some of your flying stuff (e.g., headset, etc)?  (and, no, I'm not asking to buy them)

I don't much notice the wx anymore, other than the obvious sunny days.  I don't follow cloud conditions, or weather trends or much of anything.  I haven't looked at an aviation weather product since this whole thing started.

If I can get a partner in the airplane I'll keep it.  Can't afford it by myself anymore.  If not, might have to sell it for what I can get.  Don't want to, I love it.  But realities are.

Mrs. Steingar says I'm more irritable, but I think that's a thing wives say about their husbands worldwide.

Do you (Steingar) still love to fly?

Hard to tell.  Haven't done it since this all happened in August.

I would happily if I thought I could get away with it.  The beauty of free speech is we can poke fun at the folks in charge.  Again, we've PC'd ourselves so badly that I doubt I could without twisting someone's knickers into a wad.  I got reamed for a minor joke about he Trump foundation, which itself is a joke!

Yeah, but the remainder of us here can fly high performance aircraft without getting into Pilot Induced Oscillation, and prop strikes.

Wasn't pilot induced oscillation, just a hard landing.  Nonetheless you have a  good point, and I am considering giving up aviation altogether.  Given what happened, I am obviously not the pilot I thought I was.

My bad if its true, I just saw an estimate of a billion a few m minutes ago.  Many, many Muslims live in poor nations where population is mounted less closely than it is here.  I imagine one could give a number of estimates quite truthfully.

That said, to ascribe one particular behavior to a billion different people you don't need a low IQ.  You need to be brainwashed dead.  Its sort of like saying all Christians proselytize.

You probably could ascribe particular habits or behaviors to us Jews.  I think there are only about 12 of us.

Actually, he is a lot more.  He is the leader of a multi-billion dollar company.  I know that being a CEO gets poo-pooed by the leftist elites as being an overpaid stuffed shirt, but I think it's because they don't understand the work or the responsibility.  It's an enormous amount to do.

You have no evidence of that except his own say so.  I've seen estimates of his wealth that are little more than what he inherited from his parents.  You don't know any different.

Maybe Steingar is putting us on.  Maybe he has too much class to actually do that stuff in a classroom.

Not putting you on.  The test question might have been a little much, I thought I'd get away with it due to the obvious jocularity.  The photo of the Orange one stays.  Like I said, saying someone is slightly less intelligent than Einstein is no insult.

Other than that I do not do politics in the classroom unless it directly impacts the subject matter.  For example, when talking about Stem cells I do talk about the Bush-directed ban on money for human stem cells.  They're a really interesting story all themselves.

My problem with this is we're ignoring inclusivity.  A University shouldn't be an echo chamber like this website.  Students should be exposed to ideas with which they are not only unfamiliar but perhaps uncomfortable.  I'd call the test question my bad since it unnecessarily involved the Orange One.  But it was pretty seriously mild, and shouldn't have drawn any cries of fowl.  It was actually quite an honest comment, the Orange One himself hasn't contributed to that thing in nearly a decade.

But instead we're PC'ing our universities half to death.  What we professors say is so carefully scrutinized, I could tell you more than a few stories.  Just the other day I had  local businessman told me he will never again hire a college graduate.  He says they'e too PC, too whiny and too easily offended.  Not the first time I've heard this comment either.  But where doe sit come from?  Notice that you guys are jumping down my throat for the least little infraction.  You're surprised my students act similarly?

We truly are not doing our students any services by speaking so punctiliously.  The World doesn't, and we're supposed to be preparing them for it.

Just curious; would you feel differently if he had killed your wife and daughter?

I doubt it strongly.  Unlike you guys I have an IQ in the triple digits.  I know that there are a billion Muslims, roughly one in every ten humans on planet Earth.  To ascribe any political goal or ideology that encompasses all of them is pure folly.

Trump is a complete amateur, a professional celebrity and little more.  He has placed mostly fellow amateurs in key positions around him.  I suspect the damage will be limited.  While his foreign policy will be a disaster I think the foreign leaders will soon learn to ignore him.

What's really funny is that I was personally affected by a Somali going off the deep end and trying to hurt/kill people, and I don't subscribe to this bigoted xenophobic nonsense.

I'm genuinely surprised his release didn't stipulate a set distance from any airplane.

I was going to put a photo of myself in the last slide, but it seems too much like hubris to compare myself to Einstein.  That, and I have very cleverly avoided having photos taken of me doing anything really stupid.

In the end I decided that saying someone was a slightly less intelligent than Einstein is no insult.  So at least I get something out of the fiasco that was the 2016 Presidential election.  Throw me a frikken bone for Odin's sake!

Michael, you said you keep politics out of the classroom.

I mostly do.  That's about as close as I come.  Actually, I have to take it back.  When talking about Genetics I start the subject with some general descriptors, let my students know what they're getting into using the attached slides.

I got in trouble over this exam question:

The dumbest thing you can do with your money:
   a.  burn it
   b.  invest in a pyramid scheme
   c.  donate to the Trump foundation
   d.  hire a psychic
   e.  buy and smoke cigarettes.
