Spin Zone / Australian forest fires - not global warming (surprise)
« on: January 12, 2020, 08:54:57 AM »
Informational -

Lots of people are pinning the Australian forest fires on global warming.  Not surprisingly, there is more to the story.

It seems that for millennia, the aboriginal people have known the land there.  When the grass got too stiff, when sticks crack a certain way, they knew that meant the possibility of fire was higher.  So they executed low grade burns, things that didn't burn hot, but that cleared out brush.  They were back burning.

Enter modern "scientific" Europeans.  In order to control the fires, Austrailians have also been burning.  But their problem has been control; their fires burn much higher and hotter and wind up drying out adjacent lands, meaning the overall quantity of fuel has actually increased.  They have only just begun to understand how to execute controlled burns the right way so they can remove the fuel without overdoing it.

So...same as the cause in California, improper land management is the root cause because it's being done by people who only think they know the right policies.

This is why the MMGW crowd has a credibility problem.  it's just one of many examples where they are either outright lying or ignorantly reporting facts that aren't true.

Did Pelosi sabotage USMCA?

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/12/mexicans_throwing_a_spanner_in_the_usmca_trade_pact.html

TLDR version - After trade negotiators from the three countries got agreement on the new USMCA, Democrats in the House quietly inserted a new provision - that Mexico unions run by American rules.  In theory, this gives them more power, but in actuality, nobody wants this - not Mexican workers, not Mexican, not the Mexican government, nobody except the Democrats in the House.

WTF - a trade bill agreed and signed by three countries, which everyone likes lands on your desk and you have to "tweak" it to make it "better"?

Spin Zone / So, Giuliani was the puppet master
« on: December 17, 2019, 06:52:49 AM »
Of course Giuliani has been in Ukraine for a while.  He was obviously the link that got the Ambassador fired and that's been confirmed.

Question - does his admission that he's been working on getting Ukraine to investigate the Bidens cause problems for Trump?  With the admission that Giuliani has been working on getting an investigation going, it seems to me like that complicates things for impeachment.  There's no doubt that Giuliani's purpose is to cause problems for Biden and that's legal.  But it changes the context of why the president wanted a favor of the investigation.  He previously said it was to ensure corruption was not happening and we have to take that as his word.  But at the same time, his attack dog was digging up the dirt to make the investigation go, so it appears to have other motives.

Giuliani should have kept his mouth shut.  At this point it appears that both Trump and Biden are in trouble.

Flame away, I maintain that this is not a good look for Trump.

New theory on impeachment floating out there - that the Democrats purposefully advanced a horribly flawed impeachment charge.  This way they get to impeach Trump and fire up their base, but Republican don't ever get to call defense witnesses.

Their impeachment charge is so flawed that they have know it's DOA on arrival in the Senate.  But they had to know that from the beginning, unless they got a slam dunk, it was going to be nearly impossible.  By slam dunk, I mean documents, emails, text, pictures of him playing golf with Satan, something that Republicans could not refute.  But such things don't exist and were unlikely to ever have existed, so they don't have them.

Therefore...was this all a plan to just fire up their base, smear the president and then duck out of the Senate trial by never having proved their charges?  Just another chance to manipulate the Democrat base...

Spin Zone / More on Eric Ciaramella
« on: November 09, 2019, 01:44:55 AM »
https://www.oann.com/judicial-watch-unearths-visitor-log-from-eric-ciaramellas-time-at-the-white-house/

It seems he wasn't very discrete when Obama was president because, after all, there was never going to be another Republican president.

Visitor logs from the White House show him meeting with a number of people on controversial topics - the railroading of Mike Flynn, the steel dossier and multiple contractors from Ukraine researching dirt against Trump.

There is something rotten in the state of denmark.  But we know that.

Spin Zone / Yelp reviews indicate California cities faltering
« on: October 24, 2019, 05:45:53 PM »
https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/californias-local-economy-is-stagnating

Yelp indicates there are fewer reviews coming from large California cities, which they take as an indication that economics are faltering.  Fewer reviews are indicative of fewer people going out to places that Yelp.  The blame is placed on anti-business laws in California.

Seems reasonable to me.

Trump moving our guys out of the way in Syria because....

I’m willing to entertain the idea that it’s beneficial to let Turkey invade, but I cannot see why. More war destabilizes the whole region.  Another spineless action because he is afraid of casualties?

I don’t get it.  Someone explain?

Spin Zone / So thats where the rumor of naked Trump photos came from
« on: September 30, 2019, 10:13:21 AM »
It was all a Russian shock-jock radio host prank call with Schiff two years ago.  Among other things, they claimed to have naked photos of Trump and told Schiff such.  And about two years ago, rumors of naked photos of the president started circulating.  The lies came from Schiff-head.

Spin Zone / Up because of a nightmare - Dems won everything.
« on: September 24, 2019, 11:55:05 PM »
I’m awake right now because I had a nightmare. The Democrats has won all the branches of government and had just passed a Medicare for All plan. The cost of the plan was so high that the economy was collapsing, taxes were tripling or quadrupling, companies were laying off workers left and right, people were legitimately trying to flee the country but nobody would take them because it caused a global economic collapse too. Then they came offer the guns too, because things were so unsafe.

I really hope this was just a dream and not a future vision.

Summary - Democrat alledge that the president threathened to withhold foreign aid unless Ukraine investigated Joe Biden's son on charges related to Paul Manafort.  An intelligence analyst heard the conversation and blew a whistle.  Then the DNI refused to forward the complaint to Congress

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-48268762

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-49640830?intlink_from_url=https://www.bbc.com/news/topics/cx1m7zg0gzdt/ukraine&link_location=live-reporting-story

I don't think there's anything to the democrats claim because I understand it, the fund threatened to be withheld in July have since been released without an investigation.  What I'm more interested in is how this whistle blower abused the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act (ICWA).  He published his complaint as an "urgent concern".  But if you read the law, an urgent concern must pertain to the execution of intelligence activity.  So, what this guy really did was release confidential information about the president's conversation with a foreign leader.

The whole thing is a Deep State attack.

Spin Zone / SCOTUS stops aslyum injunctions
« on: September 11, 2019, 05:19:52 PM »
A temporary victory on asylum

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has blocked White House plans to enforce existing asylum laws related to denying asylum to aliens who did not stop at the first country they could seek asylum in.  9th district courts actually made 3 different rulings on this, consistently ignoring other courts in order to get it's way.

Today, the Supreme Court overrode the injunctions nationwide, saying that yes, the White House can enforce laws related to denying asylum and that the injunction is overridden everywhere.  Effectively, if an alien did not stop in Mexico to seek asylum, they will now be denied here.

The ruling is not permanent and will last until the SCOTUS takes the case up, presumably in the next term.

Spin Zone / Time to make a change
« on: July 29, 2019, 11:44:51 AM »
Looks like someone has discovered the open registration for the board.  This happened at my BBS and after I got tired of remove users and posts, I had to implement changes to the login process.  That worked for a couple of days until they adjusted.  Within days I had over 2000 accounts auto posting and I finally had to disable public account creation.

I don't know the answer to spammers, but if they follow the pattern I saw, they're about to get out of control here.

But just to be clear, because the news wasn’t, this was not a final win. It was a stay of the injunction by the lower court pending a 9th Circuit appeal. Construction can move forward using the 2.5 million in funds the president reallocated. But the 9th circuit still has a say, which will likely put this back to the Supreme Court for a decision about whether or not the law is being correctly applied.

This wasn’t a decision of law, it was just nullifying a preliminary injunction while the case moves forward.
