Spin Zone / Re: Have You Served In The U.S. Military?
« on: March 28, 2016, 09:07:29 AM »
I had every expectation to go to Nam after High School.  When the time came first I got a pass with a draft lottery number of 260 and we were pulling out of Viet Nam and things changed where many young men that I looked up to went to Canada.  It was a confusing time.

Do yourself a favor and delay filing the paperwork until after the election. That way you can rightfully say that whatever messed up president we get isn't your fault.

Do your self a favor so you can claim its not your fault.  America's future can be decided by others, great advice there.

I'm guessing that that naked link is going to point out that the word I made up also has a different meaning.

Dunno what its going to point out, I didn't read it.

The money has been misspent. There has been great reluctance to change strategy in how to aid and spend that money for sure. In all fairness though, that money has bought our nation's poor people a pretty high standard of living when compared with the rest of the world. That in turn has bought us stability and apathy among the poor. You should be grateful because an angry poor population has been known to bring about chaos, anarchy and revolution. It also creates even more voting Democrats than it already does.

The misspent money goes far beyond the current debt.  I am not the least bit grateful, a small government results in opportunity.  The poor are far better off with economic opportunity than a lifetime of handouts.  Either way won't result in a 'french' revolution.

I thought the real problem with the Tea Party was their "my way or the highway" outlook.  Had they indulged themselves in the fine art of compromise, they might have been able to nudge government policies in the desired direction.  They could have then gone back to their constituencies with a win, and really started a third party.  They were well on their way.  Instead they fought not only with Democrats but with their own party leadership.  Unfortunately, the only way to get anything done in our system is compromise.  You take the wins where you can.

When the right compromises with the left we get more of the same, an ever expanding government.

... we've fallen significantly behind as the Land of Opportunity. And it's not just because all those poverty-stricken babies are making poor choices.

Maybe it has to do with our refusal to enforce borders or immigration laws?

Bad trade deals that permit the Chinese to steal our intellectual property with impunity could be part of the reason too?

Mexico now gets more income from remittances than it does from their gas and oil reserves.

A tax on those remittances could pay for a wall.

I know you think Trump can make a yuuuge deal and convince the electorate to all vote for him, because, you know, he makes beautiful deals, but someday you're going to have to learn that the tooth fairy isn't real, the Easter Bunny doesn't really bring candy, and as much as he thinks he can, Trump can't force people to do what they don't want to do.

I'm sorry if I shattered your image of any of those fables. Now go get a juice box, you'll feel better.

I say Trump can negotiate with China. He intends to level the playing field created by their currency manipulation and closed markets.  What is China going to do?  Say sorry take it or leave it?  I say let them, we can make stuff here if there is no benefit to the status quo and fairness in the trade relationship.

If a brokered convention installs an establishment pick there will be repercussions.

Free trade at least provides us all with less-expensive goods.Cutting corporate taxes and expensive federal regulation compliance cost is key to repatriating business and domestic production. Trade tariffs can be raised on all sides, accomplishing nothing for American workers.
