No, because I would actually prefer Nikki, and possibly a few others.  But I think they all have even less chance than Trump.  I'm promoting DeSantis, not because I am a sycophant but because I think he can win.  If I had any suspicion that trump could win the general, I would happily vote for him  Even if he can only give us 4 years.

The Trump cult consists of people that will vote for Trump even though they (should) know that they are sacrificing the election and will give us 4 more years of Biden/Harris.

False.  Voting for Trump is not “sacrificing the election”.  It’s going to be stolen even if DeSantis is the candidate.  Do you really think the Dems will allow DeSantis to win?  The racist, homophobic, transphobic, book banning Nazi?

I hope y'all will watch this. Tell me that Trump or DeSantis or Haley or ..... understand this stuff as well as Vivek does and can explain it as he does.

Peterson has the most amazing interviews.  I watched a chunk of it.  They’re too long for me most of the time, I have to find a chore that fits the timeframe.  I mostly stick to 15-20 minute videos.  Peterson is great for when I mow the yard, it’ll last the whole hour and a half without me having to stop, get out my phone and put on another video.

"If Trump strokes out".
It is a distinct possibility that this, or something worse, may happen in then next 5 or 6 years.
Alphas, especially older ones,  have more heart attacks and strokes, and Presidents (and Presidential candidates) have a lot of stress.

I’m not going to not vote for him just because he might stroke out while in office. That’s what a VP is for.

I’m not upset with DeSantis.  I just said I understand why Trump would be.  I’ll vote for DeSantis if he runs and wins the primary or if Trump strokes out or something.

It was a blatant message.  Testify about weaponizing the feds and we will openly weaponize the feds against you.  What are you gonna do about it?

And the Republicans will do nothing.

Well to totally confuse matters the police chief said “woman” when asked by the reporter, “She identifies as transgender man or women?”

That answer implies male to female but I’m pretty sure the chief meant she WAS a woman, as in XX.

Jessssssuz   We need to quit this gender shit it is wrecking language.

It was not a woman.

Pretty sure it was a biological woman who wanted to be male.

Edit:  I saw a headline:  “Nashville shooter identified as 28 year old woman.”

In 2019 we would have know that to mean the police identified the shooter as a 28 year old woman.

Today, we don’t know if they meant the shooter “identified” as a 28 year old woman.  But maybe was actually a 17 year old male.   >:(

But yeah, a female that was using he/him pronouns.  Probably pumped full of testosterone.

It's not a matter of me playing that card.  I voted for him TWICE, even after that quote was disclosed.  It is just that that is the type of reason that so many people hate Trump and why I don't believe he can win.

To ignore facts you don't like is folly.  (That is the card that I play).  Just as not liking or trusting anyone that Trump is afraid of is folly.

Oh okay, you’re saying other people would not vote for him because of that.  Well it didn’t hurt him in 2020.

Liz Cheney is definitely worse than any Democrat.  If she were a D then people would just listen to her BS and realize that of course a D will do and say those things about Trump.  But when an R says and does those things, Ds and Is and even many Rs will say "Oh shit!  If an R says it about another R, it must be true".  This is one of the main reasons that Trump is so damaged and cannot/will not ever win another general election and why we must find another candidate that CAN win.

But it's not all Liz's fault.  I know libs that would vote for a Republican that they perceive to be honest over Biden.  That is NOT Trump.  And it's not all Liz Cheney's fault and it not all due to cheating.

Trump didn't just SAY pussy, he said that when you are a star you can grab them by the pussy.
I doubt even Rush or Becky would agree with that statement, at it stands.
And he sounds an awful lot like Uncle Joe with the kissing remark.

You’re going to play that card?  I thought we were past that. Locker room talk.  And he was talking about adults.  Trump is in his 70s.  His day was back when we didn’t have the lunacy of needing to get verbal permission before making a pass at a woman.  It was normal to do what he said.  (In the context of already making out - not just walking past you on the street.)  I’ve had guys do that back in the day and my reaction was to simply tell them to piss off which they did.  I didn’t see it as sexual assault and get all traumatized.  If they didn’t leave off, then that would have been sexual assault.  Trump’s comment made it clear these women were consenting if not inviting.

Qualified immunity is not law passed by Congress nor is it in the Constitution. It was pretty much legislated by the bench and was a reaction to claims, true or not, of excessive police brutality against blacks. It is indeed abused but to what extent is debatable.  I am opposed to it on principle.  No one, law enforcement or not, violating a person’s fourth amendment rights, should be shielded from liability.  And it’s true we got along fine without it for most of our history.

But as a pragmatist, I worry that due to changing culture and demographics we are facing a critical shortage of police officers.  Ending qualified immunity may make this situation worse.  It is proven that strong policing cuts down on crime.  With the situation in the cities what they are, the last thing we want to do is weaken the police.  Even if ending qualified immunity doesn’t result in a dearth of policemen, it may result in police being reluctant to act for fear of lawsuits.

One solution is for municipalities to shield officers from liability (pay for their defense and any settlements).  I have a problem with the idea of low-salary police being open to high jury awards for trying to apprehend a criminal and making split second decisions under pressure. This hurts their families

On the other hand there are abusive cops, and corruption in many forces, and it is often the innocent, not criminals, who are victims of police “over-enthusiasm” and they deserve justice and compensation.

Having said all that, right now I don’t think it’s an issue Trump should press.  He will turn off libertarians and independents and he doesn’t need it to keep his MAGA core, so it’s not strategic, and he needs all the good strategy he can get to overcome the upcoming Democrat cheating.

2024 is more about getting rid of the Dems than about any of these myriad secondary issues.  Focus on the big ones and many of the small ones will take care of themselves. Crime was at its lowest when Trump was in office before the pandemic. Minority unemployment was at its lowest (there’s a correlation there).  Booming economy, low gas prices, no inflation, border under control, and no WW3.  Get that back:  Far more important than bickering over qualified immunity.

Y’all are just sniping at each other from the extreme positions when I would love a dispassionate analytical discussion.  For example, Steingar, when you say Lucifer doesn’t actually know what communism is, I’d like to know what you think it is, and what Lucifer thinks it is, and then go from there, parsing out the formal definitions, real world examples, successes and failures, etc.  But you all never get that satisfyingly deep for me.  :'(

It looks like President Trump polls ahead of the senile imposter, and everybody else in a 2024 matchup.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2023/03/23/donald-trump-holds-definitive-lead-joe-biden-likely-2024-matchup/

“Trump would beat Biden in a landslide,” the pollster analyzed.

Did the pollster account for the cheating?

I might make an exception, if I wasn't already in a relationship, that is......     Lol.

I did have a 22 year old Dutch girlfriend who worked in our Brussels office when I lived in Europe off and on. Well, I was 28  so....She spoke five languages.  Dutch, of course, English, German, French and Spanish.

My youngest “boyfriend” was 21 or so when I was 27.  I put boyfriend in quotes because we were more like just friends, but pretty entranced with each other.  The oldest age difference was when I was in my early twenties I went on one date with a forty something scientist from behind the iron curtain. He was an honest to God communist.  That was pretty trippy back then, going on a date with “the enemy” in the Cold War.  But he was just a good natured nut, taught me how to say “I love you” in Romanian.
