Spin Zone / Thinking About January 6th
« on: February 05, 2021, 06:34:18 PM »
Was thinking about the "insurrection" on January 6th.  Something really doesn't smell right about this. If you were going to storm the Capitol would you really dress up with war paint and wear horns and a bear skin?  How the pictures of some of the other insurrectionists?  This really seems like a set up and these guys will be taken care of down the road.
Thoughts, comments?

And McConnell is teaming up with democrat Steny Hoyer to pressure McCarthy to purge Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green from the party.  No pushback and calling out the lies and threats from Pelosi or Schumer, just one little Congresswoman from Georgia.

That’s all we need to know. He will regret this.

He's got six years.

With the new variant of COVID now, will lock downs be reinstated?

McConnell released a statement backing Liz Cheney. Tells you everything you need to know about where the power brokers would like the Republican party would like to be, part of the uni-party.

A FB Friend posted this. It is just a small indication of what is happening and where we are.

It has been a while since I have written. A lot of the time I like to sit back and watch the themes currently in play. One of the prevalent topics I see comments on is censorship. It is interesting to me how many of my friends, particularly on my right are up in arms about steps taken by Twitter, Facebook, and Google which are viewed as censorship...or some of my friends on my right believe is "silencing" their 1st Amendment Right of freedom of speech.

In one regard, this painfully demonstrates for me a serious lack of understanding of Civics which we seemingly don't teach any longer. The exact wording of the 1st Amendment follows:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Read it over a couple of times. Take your time. Lookup a word if you don't know what it means...you can google the word...Google (yes that is the spelling of Google) will provide the word and a definition to help you understand stand the word you are "googling."

If you read the 1st Amendment slowly, you will see that the GOVERNMENT CANNOT abridge your right to say what is on your mind no matter how ignorant, foolish, stupid or salient it might be. Cornell Law provides this:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/first_amendment

Now that you have read these points on the 1st Amendment, there is a Quiz Question: Where in the 1st Amendment do you see that you have the right to post absurdly stupid remarks, rile insurrection, and call for the death of political opponents as we have recently observed on some social media platforms who are NOT THE GOVERNMENT and who have a USER AGREEMENT that you certified you would follow? Where in the 1st Amendment do you see anything that says a Private or Stockholder Company cannot "abridge" your right to post stupid shit which violates your "freedom of speech? The simple answer is there is NO SUCH RIGHT. A private/stockholder company simply stated is not in the 1st Amendment and they are NOT The Government. Keeping that in mind here is what is in Twitter's user agreement:https://help.twitter.com/.../rules.../hateful-conduct-policy

Here is what is in Facebooks user agreement: =AZU4NRZYckWbCmsDGqGqE3GSIrUyo7Pex4-HZ8sswaS2KxZpWaA2L4dl4ak4sRG2b7R8wxVYei-lt1fiw57MlApuYSpYLyuMpTK0ivHph2EYFe-ETK0o0KIBouPkwdUKXU4IyG4tGFuPgqWNWEr_XPQLkon-6IiMnEahzmMdl49u4p2L2addiv9qm8HyG2yAFgg&__tn__=-UK-R]https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards/hate_speech

Famously, the Supreme Court has ruled on the freedom of speech more than a few times. Here are some cases: [url=http://www.ala.org/advocacy/intfreedom/censorship/courtcases]http://www.ala.org/advocacy/intfreedom/censorship/courtcases

One of the most famous freedoms of speech cases involves the word FIRE. https://en.wikipedia.org/.../Shouting_fire_in_a_crowded....

Oliver Wendall Holmes stated; "The original wording used in Holmes's opinion ("falsely shouting fire in a theatre and causing a panic") highlights that speech that is dangerous and false is not protected, as opposed to speech that is dangerous but also true."

Shutting "dangerous lies" down by FB and Twitter is their duty as stated in their own user agreements...unfortunately, as companies with written stated user agreements, they didn't do fast enough to save 5 lives in the capital insurrection fomented by the Liar in Chief.

Freedom of speech isn't free when it is "dangerous and false" and utilized by the President for fomenting insurrection because he didn't like how badly he got his ass kicked in an election...

FB, Twitter, and others did what is written in their own USER AGREEMENTS where there is NO freedom of speech guarantee. and it was about time...

Frankly, any social media company should be treated as a "publisher" who can be sued along with anyone posting "dangerous and false" information...multi-billion dollar lawsuits or the threat of them will change behavior...

Had businesses continued as usual we'd have a lot more illness and deaths than we do, and we're already the COVID capital of the world.
Doesn't seem to the case here in Georgia.

Just FYI - I have been trying to follow Garland’s lawsuit. This rather long update was posted today and includes some status on challenges still active around the country (I’m listening at double speed just now and not able to provide a summary - sorry):

Just finished listening to it.  A couple of things I gleaned from it. Apparently 60 Minutes ran a segment with either Raffensberger or Sperling. Garland pointed out things that were wrong and not pointed out in the segment.  Binkley, the young man on the far right, has done research on Raffensperber and pointed out that his family seems to have a history of hating Trump. It was mentioned why would Raffensberger, who apparently has money, would have wanted to run for SoS in Georgia and why would he have spent a million dollars to do so.  Garland seems to have spent the weekend in Arizona working with the folks there.  It is interesting how much time and effort Fulton County is putting itto not wanting to have the ballots audited and analyzed.

I've met Henning on a couple of occasions. For some time he had his 310 based at our field. Flew him up to Greenville one time and we had lunch.  Last time was the day before he had the gear up in the 310 at Fond DuLac.  He had flown in from Europe and was spending the day waxing the 310. We went to lunch on the field and he went back to waxing. Left the next day to go to AirVenture and the rest is history.

Care to rephrase that?
What did Trump do to damage the country?
Just telling you his explanation as he was signing today.
