Bullshit. Pull your gear and flaps up, and stop depending on someone else for your navigation.  The extra drag is fully self inflicted at this point in history.

Leave it to Jaybird to ruin an otherwise good analogy.  Sometimes you need more thrust to overcome a drag of X.  In other words, sometimes you have to work harder.  It's irrelevant if you think gravity, or life, is unfair.

Color blind means that we ignore the identity of people.  Dr. King meant that we evaluate people based on their behavior and actions and not by defacto White = Right or the corollary Black = Guilty.

Who the hell said that he meant a "defacto White = Right or the corollary Black = Guilty"?

You are seriously delusional on this point, JB. I'm sorry you have such hatred for white people. I guess in your world we can never live together and act like a color blind society. Segregation, separation, "equal but separate" forever more. In planetary terms, that's called "retrograde motion."

I have less of an issue when a Cabinet Secretary (Dole) or Congress itself (the National Minimum Drinking Age Act) lobby/pressure states.

I do have an issue when executive agencies do it.  Again, this is a new issue that I've not deeply considered before.

It's the federal blackmail tactic that I despise, whether it comes from a Cabinet secretary, her agency's bureaucrats through Rulemaking, or from Congress itself.

They ALL shit on the Tenth Amendment.

Cruz is using the religious rhetoric to solidify the religious right.  I don't like it either.  It is an unfortunate part of politics.

I don't trust Rubio due to his stance on illegal immigration and the Gang of eight crap he pulled.  I don't like Trump because I think he's a Progressive, and will sell out conservative values to make deals.  However, I would vote for any of them over Hillary or Bernie.

Let's all sit down and take a long sip of some fine Kentucky bourbon (I like Knob Creek), and relax for a minute.

I didn't like Cruz's speech either.  I'm a Catholic, but most Catholics would not call themselves Evangelicals. I didn't like Rubio's Gang of Eight stuff either, though he's admitted he was wrong, which is more than some politicians would ever do.

But with Rubio and Cruz, we have the best chance of nominating the most conservative candidate fielded by the GOP since Ronald Reagan 35 years ago!

There is no question in my mind that either of them would hold firm on most conservative principles that are important to me. Add to that the fact that Marco Rubio has a gift for explaining and advocating conservatism that we haven't seen since the Gipper, and that will be necessary to win in the general election. That's how "Reagan Democrats" came to be.

The circular firing squad is getting tiresome. I'm ready to start directing fire to the real enemy, though that will be impossible until Thin Skin Trump gets tired of the race and drops out.

I actually thought it was against the law for federal funds to be used to influence local politics/elections, maybe just election/ballot issues in particular but I agree this is troubling.

'Gimp

Oh, they're not trying to influence. They will out and out blackmail the states.
No .05 BAC?  No federal highway funding. They did that with the national 55 MPH limit in the 1970s and 1980s.

Can you imagine if Carter endorsed Trump?  Trump would hit the microphone in a New York minute saying "Did you see who Jimmy Carter endorsed?  Ted Freekin' Cruz!  Ted Freekin' Cruz.  This is yuuuuge!"

See... this is where you can actually follow up with your perspective instead of a one line sentence that leaves us- wonder what that might be???.

Really, Dave?  I thought we might leave this crap over at POA.  You expressed an "opinion" that "It is another election cycle with terrible choices."  It wasn't a fact, it was your belief.

I did something similar.  I expressed an "opinion" that it isn't an election cycle with "terrible choices" from my perspective.  I'll bet most people here probably understand what I was conveying.  I'm sorry you missed it.  So I'll explain it for you.  These aren't terrible choices on the GOP side.

Only you can answer that, I guess. Is there any level of vetting that would make you feel comfortable with the process? I am just as concerned as the next guy/gal about terrorists managing to enter the US. On the other hand, being the planet's shining light of freedom and liberty takes guts, which makes me lean toward allowing some refugees under a proven, strict vetting process.

"Proven, strict vetting process"?  What the hell is that?  The one that let in the Tsarnaev brothers?  What about the wife of the San Bernardino jihadist team?

Seriously, please let me know how you vet military-age men from Syria who have no ID.

I think of MMGW as a hiding place for people with nothing to substantiate their twisted sense of entitlement. Many dull, shallow people, look for ways to introduce a theme that their culture (PC bullspit artistry) has made off limits, as far as resistance. Much like mentioning Barack Obama's fancy, fake birth certificate has become an automatic way to be labeled stupid, crazy, or more ugly things, standing up to the absolute fabrications of the MMGW crowd comes with automatic derision.
Everyone knows how Barack Obama stared right at the camera and claimed MMGE causes terrorism, but when asked why that MMGW caused terrorism only affects Muslims, he got mad and ended the interview. The fact that he pretended something so preposterous was supposed to be protected by the PC rules of engagement on the topic and the reporter refused to play.

If only half of the media wouldn't play along and would act like the Fourth Estate that they purport to be, we would have a fighting chance of being the United States of America 200 years from now.

As I've said before I think MMGW gets introduced in a lot of threads dealing with the Progressive mindset as it is a center piece of their universe, well maybe also intolerance, and demanding diversity, and multi culturalism.

RACIST!!!

I've never been a "gamer" so what you are describing may as well have been written in Cyrillic.

But I can see why you do this. Flying your Yak must be so boring and repetitive.

:D
I am a man of varied interests and capabilities.    8)

It will be good for the 5 or 6 days a year I truly 'can't' fly the Yak due to weather, like yesterday.

LMAO, it was OK when it was "Constitutional scholar" BH O'Bama.

Another trait of the liberals is to degrade anyone who is conservative, mock them as being stupid, uneducated and devoid of anything intelligent.

Alinsky's Rules for Radicals #5 and 13:

5.  “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

13.  “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

[
Whichever one that would be, it would not be Cruz who has no understanding of the separation of church and state.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances"

What specific language do you feel Cruz has violated, or shown a lack of comprehension?

Kristin, I'm sorry if you misread the syllabus in law school and you thought your C-law class section on the First Amendment read "Freedom From Religion."

You might start with Reynolds v. United States, 98 U.S. 145 (1878) and Emerson v. Board of Education 330 U.S. 1 (1947).  Both quote Jefferson's letter to the Baptists promising a wall of separate between church and state.  Then we have a whole raft to decisions from there making clear that any governmental promotion of a religion is unconstitutional.

If you have had the pleasure of taking Con Law you must have slept through it.

Oooh. Landmark cases. Impressive. Now tell me one thing that Cruz has proposed that violates Jefferson's metaphor of the "wall of separation."

And your lame claim of what he said in Iowa isn't one of them.

Why is it so tough to just admit that you want the First Amendment to mean a Freedom FROM Religion?

It does mean freedom from state supported religion.

Duh. Any 8th grader should know that.  But that's not what concerns you in Cruz's case, is it?

My concern with Cruz is either that he is pandering or that he is a Christian bigot who thinks science is a waste of time because all answers to our existence is in Genesis.

So your concerns changed from post #47 when you said Cruz is not a Constitutionalist because he doesn't understand the separation of church and state?  Because that was kind of the point of this whole discussion, wasn't it?

Can you fill me in on what Cruz has said that makes him a "Christian bigot?"  I don't think you've articulated that yet.

While you're at it, can you cite any statement of Cruz where he said or implied that "science is a waste of time"?  Or can we conclude that you're so bigoted against all Christians that you are simply projecting your hatred toward a candidate that you despise, who happens to be Christian?

I consider a statement saying that if you don't start the day praying that you are not fit to be President a pretty good example of bigotry.

Cruz has spend lots of time getting cozy with the creationist crowd.  I recall him being asked if he accepted any aspects of evolution and he ducked the question.  It is a fair one considering his father is an outspoken support of creationist theory ala Genesis.

Got it. So just to clarify, your hatred of Cruz has nothing to do with your belief that he is not a Constitutionalist and that he doesn't understand the First Amendment, as you stated, and everything to do with your own anti- Christian bigotry.

Thanks for the explanation.
