Spin Zone / Re: Salvation Army Loses Donors After White Supremacy Claims
« on: December 20, 2021, 06:02:41 PM »
I’ve always donated to the SA but because of this no more. When they mail solicitations I write “I would donate like I have in the past, but being that I’m white, which apparently makes me racist, I can no longer support your organization”.

Still getting solicitations but no mention of what I wrote.

Complete Pilot Series Author Bob Gardner Departs

Bob Gardner, author of The Complete Pilot Series from ASA and a long-admired member of the aviation community, passed away on October 7, 2021. A wealth of knowledge and a great author to work with, Bob had an amazing aviation career that he matched to very entertaining stories. He cared a lot about his work and was constantly working to make improvements to his books and teaching. Bob remained engaged in the aviation education community and kept his technical savvy going strong. Above and beyond this, he was just a hoot to talk to, generous with his wealth of knowledge, and a real pleasure to work with.

His flying career began as a hobby in Alaska in 1960 while in the U.S. Coast Guard. By 1966, Bob earned his Private Land and Sea, Commercial, Instrument, Instructor, CFII, and MEL. Over the next 16 years he was an instructor, charter pilot, corporate and freight captain, and director of ASA Ground Schools. He held an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with Single and Multi-Engine Land ratings; a CFI certificate with Instrument and Multi-Engine Land ratings; and a Ground Instructor's Certificate with Advanced and Instrument ratings. Bob was also a Gold Seal Instructor, well-known author, journalist, and airshow lecturer.

Bob will be greatly missed by the ASA team and the aviation community to which he devoted so much of his life.

Attended a concert yesterday. Bunch of bands leading up to the headline act at 8pm. Seriously only saw one or two people wearing masks. It was outside and wonderful to hear live music again. This in Alabama and our Governor encourages wearing a mask but refuses to make it mandatory. IOW it’s up to us. Like it should be.

One vendor was selling Trump stuff, hats, shirts, etc, and Trump 2024 merchandise.

Oh yeah, in case I forget….fuck Biden!

Donald Trump, Ronald Reagan, and Joe Biden were set to face a firing squad in a Central American country.
Donald Trump was the first one placed against the wall and just before the order was given, he yelled out, "Earthquake!"
The firing squad fell into a panic and Donald Trump jumped over the wall and escaped during the confusion.
Ronald Reagan was the second one placed against the wall.
The squad was reassembled, and Ronald pondered what he had just witnessed.
Again, before the order was given Ronald yelled out, "Tornado!"
Again, the squad fell apart and Ronald slipped over the wall.
The last person, Joe Biden, was placed against the wall.
He was thinking, I see the pattern here, just scream out something about a disaster and hop over the wall.
He confidently refused the blindfold as the firing squad was reassembled.
As the rifles were raised in his direction, he grinned from ear to ear and yelled, "Fire!"
And this story my friends reflects the true intelligence level between Republicans and Democrats!!!

From a friend…

My girlfriend is so intelligent. I used my best friend's phone to call her and she already knew that it was me. She picked up and immediately said: "Hi, sweetheart!".
I'm so lucky to have her.☺️😍

A sweet grandmother Telephoned St. Joseph's Hospital. She timidly asked,
"Is it possible to speak to someone who can tell me how a patient is doing?"

The operator said, "I'll be glad to help, dear. What's the name and room number of the patient?"

The grandmother in her weak, tremulous voice said, Norma Findlay, Room 302."

The operator replied, "Let me put you on hold while I check with the nurse's station for that room."

After a few minutes, the operator returned to the phone and said,
"I have good news. Her nurse just told me that Norma is doing well. Her blood pressure is fine; her blood work just came back normal and her Physician, Dr. Cohen, has scheduled her to be discharged tomorrow."

The grandmother said, "Thank you. That's wonderful. I was so worried. God bless you for the good News."

The operator replied, "You're more than welcome. Is Norma your daughter?"

The grandmother said, "No, I'm Norma Findlay in Room 302. No one tells me s**t."

Three contractors bid to fix a broken fence at the White House. One is from Chicago, another is from Kentucky and the third is from New Orleans. All three go with a White House official to examine the fence.
The New Orleans contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil.
"Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $9,000. That's $4,000 for materials, $4,000 for my crew and $1,000 profit for me."
The Kentucky contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $7,000. That's $3,000 for materials, $3,000 for my crew and $1,000 profit for me"
The Chicago contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers, "$27,000."
The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys. How did you come up with such a high figure?”
"The Chicago contractor whispers back, "$10,000 for me, $10,000 for you, and we hire the guy from Kentucky to fix the fence."
"Done!" replies the government official.
And that, my friends, is how the Government Stimulus plan worked.

You know, like Hunter Biden’s painting 🙄

Remember ... Four boxes keep us free: the soap box, the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box.
"I love my country ... it's the government I'm afraid of!"

. Generations trapped in public housing zones dependent on government where the males have abandoned fatherhood and found their only opportunities are in gangs and drug sales.

You can thank LBJ for that. He started the welfare apparatus. And fucked up the Vietnam war, with that imbecile McNamara’s micromanagement decisions.

Homeless

I was walking down the street when I was accosted by a particularly dirty and shabby-looking homeless man who asked me for a couple of dollars for dinner.

I took out my wallet, extracted ten dollars and asked,"If I give you this money, will you buy some beer with it instead of dinner?"

"No, I had to stop drinking years ago," the homeless man replied.

"Will you use it to go fishing instead of buying food?" I asked.

"No, I don't waste time fishing," the homeless man said.."I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive."

"Will you spend this on hunting equipment?" I asked.

"Are you NUTS!" replied the homeless man. "I haven't gone hunting in 20 years!"

"Well," I said, "I'm not going to give you money. Instead, I'm going to take you home for a shower and a terrific dinner cooked by my wife."

The homeless man was astounded. "Won't your wife be furious with you for doing that?

I replied, "Don't worry about that. It's important for her to see what a man looks like after he has given up drinking, fishing and hunting."

Our favorite Mod on PoA is sad on FB that a seafood place she likes is closed forever. Existed since 1937. I hope she understands why, oh wait, Trumps fault.

Who is that? The one that flew professionally? Everhard or something... ;) :)

Get em Nate! 😂😂😂

https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/its-not-a-community-if.130809/

In case they delete his post:

Your post warning others a classified ad is a complete ripoff is against the rules, and is removed so the seller can continue to try to rip off a member.

It's just Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist at that point.

This site protecting rip offs is dumb. It's not funded by by ads for junk and doesn't receive a cut of the sale.

Protecting rip offs isn't what a real community does. Just online junk selling sites who need junk sales to keep the servers paid for.

There's another subtler comment on the post that's also against the rules now, I see. Good.
