Don't forget that online courses are an option (albeit with their own set of problems)
Online high school classes are an absolute joke.
I teach high school Engineering/Aviation/Aerospace. My Tango Flight Program (
www.tangoflight.org) is in 11 high schools around the country. Every one of them is shut down for the remainder of the school year. However, all are currently planning to open in the fall.
My local school district went to online classes in March (right after spring break). To call it a joke would be a huge understatement. I did better than most teachers, but only averaged about 70 percent of my kids doing ANYTHING.
We just received word this week that we must pass every student. Unless we can document a ton of different ways that we called parents, students, counselors, principals, etc. then we have to pass the (entire semester is credit only).
I refuse to do it. I passed everyone that put forth any effort, including a number that don’t deserve it, but I can not give someone credit that I have not even heard from since before spring break. Maybe I’ll get luck and they will fire me. It will save me having to decide if I’m coming back in the fall or not.
