Spin Zone / Re: Being fucked up the ass by social security
« on: August 08, 2021, 05:59:57 PM »There are some good reasons to take it early and every person’s situation is different. That is one thing that this book I’m reading emphasizes over and over. The down side to waiting is how to fund yourself if you aren’t working. If you love your job and want to work til 70 that’s one thing. My husband is at the end of his rope, he’s had all he can take. He’s already told them his retirement date and that’s that, he’s done. So our choice is either trigger social security or live off our nest egg for the next few years and we are loathe to spend our nest egg, in exchange for a promise from a government I trust about as far as I could throw the Washington monument.
I have a military retirement plus my 401K from the airline so I was in pretty good shape.I think it’s a crap shoot anyway. What if you don’t make it to retirement age or even to 70? I know spousal benefits kick in. Regardless it’s worked out for us. I understand what you said about your husband being fed up. My last year I just about didn’t a shit and was fed up with management and bullshit, but I made it thru and things are good. Good luck figuring it out Rush.
