Pilot Zone / Richard McSpadden Dead in Crash
« on: October 01, 2023, 09:27:44 PM »
I just learned this. Richard gave me my first hours’ instruction at Franklin-Hart airport 18A in northeast Georgia.

I first got to know him when he listed his and his dad’s Navion for sale on Facebook in 2019.  That fell through, but I found another one in Richard’s home airport on Northeast Georgia. He flew a Cessna 180 down from Fredericksburg, Maryland to 18A to meet me and give me my Navion checkout.

We could not get the left main gear to lock up, and after circling the area for almost an hour, we landed, put the Navion up on jacks, and Richard, his dad, Dick (over 4,000 hours in Navions), his brother, Cliff (also lots of Navion hours and flies 747s for UPS), the seller (flew A-4 Skyhawks off the Oriskany in Vietnam), and an A&P were all underneath the Navion trying to troubleshoot the problem. I was in the cockpit pumping the manual hydraulic pump when ordered. We took another post Mx flight and it still wasn’t working.

I didn’t complete that sale. However, I have Richard’s signature in my logbook.

Since then, whenever I met him at Sun n Fun or AirVenture, he greeted me and treated me like an old friend.

A kinder, gentler man probably doesn’t exist.

Blue skies and tailwinds, Richard.

Just reverse the situation.  If Bowman was a Republican, and the speaker was a democrat, they would be demanding his resignation.  And the dims would lock arms until something was done.

The republicans are so weak.
It better fucking not stop at resignation. He needs to be charged and enprisoned.

That’s bullshit. Fake news.

Neither of them ever ask or say please.

Anthony, this is my Senator, Ron Johnson, who is standing up to The Firm. (You mentioned you didn’t know much about him.)

Excellent article, but I wonder why Mike Lee didn’t publish this in the WSJ.

And this is why Congress is hated more than herpes.

Guess I'm not a Greennie cuz that's not why I don't like them.

I do think they are a good compromise . . .
But they still need oil changes, spark plugs, emissions control systems, engine computers, fuel injection systems, transmissions, drive shafts, differentials, radiators, and all the other things that makes EVs so much better than ICE cars.
Good thing computers never break and the drive motors never have problems.

Retiring as you've said previously, right?  When?  Where are you moving?  San Fran? Portland, Detroit?   ;D ;D ;D

Inquiring minds want to know! Congrats!
you’re a funny guy!  I’ll retire at the end of 2025 I think. We bought a lot in the Wisconsin Northwoods, and will be building a home. In fact we’re up here this weekend. Hiked to some waterfalls with
Our daughter and the two boys. This is on the shore of Lake Superior today

I know that's true.  So it is a shame that most conservatives have to pretend to not care because they think it makes them look like a liberal.
In what way have I lost the argument?  I don't think you even know what my argument is.
Being a realist doesn’t make us look like we don’t care, except to ignorant liberals who bought into the green orthodoxy.

I would say most here have been pro environment and conservationists since we were old enough and aware  enough to do so. The fact you would make an issue of it to make an absurd point is demeaning to yourself.

You lost the EV argument, so you lash out at everyone. Typical.

When I was a Boy Scout in the early 1970s I earned the Ecology merit badge. That was when global cooling was the threat, gasoline was being rationed, and the country was pretty filthy in terms of litter.

There was a mindset to keep our country clean. Cars had litter bags hanging from the window turn cranks or cigarette lighters. We returned our glass bottles to the grocery stores, we had paper bags, we recycled our daily newspapers at paper drives at our church.

We weren’t retarded enough to wrap paper straws in plastic wrappers to drink out of plastic cups and think we were “just doing something” to help the oceans.

Last time I was in Chicago I saw a black woman drop an empty McDonalds bag and cups out of a van and onto the street. I’ll bet she votes democrat.
