Spin Zone / Re: Fake News
« on: December 10, 2016, 12:08:56 PM »

The liberals are aghast that they no longer control the entire media and this thing called the Internet has reared its ugly head and emerged as the Fifth Estate, essentially rendering the Fourth Estate impotent. Now they fight back with the new catch phrase "fake news" i.e. anything not approved by the liberals for consumption of the masses.

Thus the attempt to control the internet.  "Net Neutrality" is a Trojan Horse as the first step to content control.

President elect talks to Carrier and works out a deal to keep some jobs here in the U.S of A.  Union boss gets a case of butt hurt because he wasn't able to get anything done and now he looks the fool as well as the current President who just says that these jobs moving out of country is the new normal.

State loses $7M in revenue for a time but saves having to pay out $10M in unemployment.

Someday you will learn how to research before posting. A simple google search of "presidents bowing to world leaders" would have yielded images of past presidents bowing to others. One example:

Full of FAIL.

I only see Bush bowing to allow a medal to be place around his neck.  As for the pope, others kneel, and kiss his ring.  Religious leaders are different than world leaders who are at best equals in stature to the President.

At least we won't have a President Trump traveling the world and apologizing for perceived wrongs of the United States.   And you won't see him bowing to the heads of states of other countries.

And you won't see any enemy agents planted on his staff.

"We are no longer feared on the world stage.  Trump will change that."

NO problem from where I sit.

Traditionally, American presidents do not bow to kings. The tradition stems from the American Constitution, which states that all men are created equal.

The uproar about Obama largely stems from his deep bows to Saudi kings. You probably recall a date in 2001 when 19 Saudis attacked the United States horrifically.

The only people expected to bow to a king or queen are subjects of that king or queen.

Silly me, here I thought heads of state should show signs of respect to one

Respect is fine, subservience is NOT.  Obama got owned by Russia, China, Iran, Cuba, Iraq, and Afghanistan as well as other enemies.  We are no longer respected on the world stage.  Trump will change that.

I have a side? Huh, imagine that.

Why do you need to prove who you are? Isn't your signature good enough? Seems like it was working fine for..what..240 years?

working fine... like the electoral college, right?   ;)

From what I have read the Stein/Clinton recount is to garner additional donations for Stein.

Ironically, though they annoyed me at the time, I never doubted that human activity is affecting the climate. In fact I would be surprised if we had little or no effect.

Why?  Man pales in comparison to natural weather changes caused by the SUN, volcanoes, El Nino, etc.

I remember first reading about the carbon dioxide green-house effect as a teenager in the early 1970s - it came up often in SF stories set on Venus. I presume the authors were using the theories of 19th century scientist Svante Arrhenius as the scientific foundation. In those fictions, Venus was often depicted as a verdant hothouse.

The undisputable science of that time said we were in for an ICE AGE well before our current time period.

So unless someone can reasonably show they have some expertise on the subject I tend to not pay much attention to claims they make on forums like this one.

Well, I may not be a climate scientist, but I do know unfettered politics when I see it.  The Man Made Climate Change movement is PURE POLITICS.  It isn't science based except for the fact that data has been falsified, and computer models skewed to get the results the politicians want.  And yes, the politicians OWN THE CLIMATE SCIENTISTS.

My fear is that both Republican and Democrat delegates to such a convention would do as they have often done when legislating: reduce or trim away the few freedoms that remain in the constitution.
Any action would have to be approved by legislatures (not governors, not the US Congress) of 38 states.

I see nothing but positives coming out of a Convention of States today.

or see how badly the rest of the USA wants CA to leave (even more attactive if just the loopy counties could be jettisoned!)

If we could jettison the L.A. and San Fran metro areas as well as the NYC metro area, no Democrat would ever win again.
