It’s unavoidable. You start with freedom which brings prosperity which brings comfort and plenty which brings complacency.  All it takes is a generation born into plenty.  They’ve never known what it takes to maintain freedom and produce the prosperity they take for granted. Naïveté and laziness ensues. Because food seems to magically appear in the grocery store and is endless they have no motivation to defend the system that produces it. They have no idea of the substructure underlying it: Free market economics and strong defense thereof. So they ignore the corruption rotting it all out from the inside.
That really describes us, the kids of the men who fought in World War 2. We were of course aware that our fathers fought for America and freedom, but it was history, not something we actually saw, and somehow was regarded by us unconsciously as something that “couldn’t happen again,” and we grew up not worrying about our next meal or feeling that our freedom, opportunity and prosperity were in any way threatened. All subsequent wars and skirmishes seemed distant to us and unable to penetrate our safe bubble, except for Vietnam, which was seen as a political disaster and not an actual threat to America except for the loss of blood and treasure it exacted.

Until 2001, we felt “safe.” It always was an illusion, and I can’t imagine really what all that has come down over the past few years and prior looks like to the younger generations, whose reference points to history and freedom are more distant than ours.

Our Republic has been batardized by those who want to profit from it through corruption and The People have lazily sat by and let it happen.

You just might be a Democrat if

If you are fine with showing your I.D. while entering a Costco warehouse but believe it’s beyond the pale to be asked to provide an I.D. when voting for the president of the United States, you just might be a Democrat.

If you like the phrase “from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” but think chants of “USA, USA” are trite, offensive, and possibly violent, you just might be a Democrat.

If you strongly support continual increases in the minimum wage but are baffled and upset by increasing prices in goods and services, you just might be a Democrat.

If you dance a little jig of happiness when you hear that mask mandates may be coming back, you just might be a Democrat.

If you don’t want the border secured because you’re afraid you won’t be able to find a reasonably priced gardener or pool boy, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think the Obamas are beatific near-deities who tried their best to heal and unite the nation but that Trump is Hitler or the Antichrist, you just may be a Democrat.

If you get your news from “The View,” MSNBC, and Salon, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think NPR is utterly fair and balanced but Fox News is not, you just might be a Democrat.

If you look at Hunter Biden’s “paintings” and see a talented artist, you just might be a Democrat. (And if you purchase one, you just might be a Democrat donor.)

If you are glad that Oregon decriminalized possession of hard drugs and that federal, state, and local governments have greatly cracked down on cigarette smoking, you just might be a Democrat.

If you have always decried “Big Business” but recently find yourself liking Google, Facebook, Disney and Target, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think LeBron James is a perfect role model but Aaron Rodgers is a total and complete ass, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think wind power is vital to our “sustainable” future but don’t want wind turbines anywhere near where you live because they are a blight on the landscape, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think Jimmy Kimmel is funny but Ricky Gervais and Dave Chappelle are not, you just might be a Democrat.

If you think “The Squad” is mainstream but MAGA members are far-out extremists, you just might be a Democrat.

If you don’t believe prayer should be allowed in public schools—or at high school sports venues—but do believe that after-school Satan clubs have a Constitutional right to be held at school facilities, you just might be a Democrat.

If you believe football should be banned because it’s too violent but support Antifa riots, transgender surgeries, medical-assisted dying, and abortion, you just might be a Democrat.

If you purport to believe that the best thing humans can do for the planet is to become extinct, you just might be a Democrat. (Put your money where your mouth is?)

If you think “Sanctuary Cities” should not have to deal with the massive influx of illegal aliens but the states that happen to abut the border should, you just might be a Democrat.

That reminded me of my wife and I out to an early dinner on New Year's Eve.

There was an older black couple coming in, and the husband was struggling to make it from the car to the restaurant, so I went out and helped him up out of the car and thru the doors. He was wearing a Marine Corps hat.

The greeter saw us coming but lacked the brains to arrange a table near the door so he wouldn't have to struggle to the back of the dining room. I caught the eye of the owner and pitched my head at the closest table and helped into the booth.

The hostess wasn't having it and started to whine. Me being so shy, I looked over her shoulder and said to the owner, "You need to teach your host staff that their agenda is not always what is best for your customers and your restaurant."

He lit her up in front of everyone and she quit on the spot.

The precious old man thanked me for helping his wife get him out of the car and into the booth. The owner apologized and announced to the rest of his staff that they needed to learn to care more about the needs of the guest and less about their own sense of importance.

Once things quieted down I asked our waitress to add their dinners to our check an discovered the owner had comped us and the two of them.

There is hope. The younger generation just needs guidance and a good example.

If that doesn't do it, then they need fired.

Yep.  They vote in higher percentages than men and they vote D more than men.

What could go wrong?

I think it was Michael Malice and Count Dankula I was listening to where they said a group of women can't get anything done (in the context of government) because they'll endlessly talk about it, and backbite each other, and can't get along.  Men can work as a team, more or less putting aside their differences for the sake of a job, at least are better at doing that than women.

The discussion was in the context of Scottish politics, where a party run by a woman is taking over by less than forthright means, a party that is far left, yet calls itself "nationalist" even though they're for open borders, because they want independence from the UK so they can go back and rejoin the EU.  Sound screwed up yet?

So they do stuff like this: Hold a public meeting to get input on proposed legislation, print the date and time for the meeting in the back page of some obscure publication, send out invites to a select group they know agrees with them, hold the meeting where of course most people favor the legislation, and then go before whatever Scotland has for a legislative body and tell them they got input from "the public" which overwhelmingly favors it.

THAT's the sort of shit leftists do.  And women, reminds me of high school, women are real good at excluding people they don't like and manipulating everybody to get what they want. I hated them in high school and have never liked your standard pack of hens. I like the kind of woman who isn't like that. Kari Lake maybe, or Becky here.

So the woman that runs this party was the protege of some man before her who was kind of a socialist but not quite as nutty as her, so he had retired and let her take over but thought she was going a bit too far so he said he wanted to come back, and guess what happened next?  MeToo allegations.  Some woman claimed he touched her knee at a party back in the 1990s.  And so now he's canceled. Coincidental timing? I think not.

Anyway that's something like the gist of it and now you don't have to listen to the hour and a half podcast.

By and large, most lefties are inherently, painfully selfish, jealous, and self-centered. Once they accept and absorb the brainwashing, their mindset becomes one in which what they think they want is THE ONLY right solution, and using lawfare to end any push back against their private, selfish, agenda is not only necessary, but required.

I am always amused when supposedly compassionate lefties join in the chorus, 'from the river to the sea,' without a shred of awareness that their bigotry is exactly what they believe themselves to be fighting against. The hypocrisy of lefties is sometime so shocking that it is better described as mental illness.

liberalism always seems to devolve into violence.  Why is that? Because liberals at their core are supporting violent and extreme submission to an agenda that appeals to their vanity, greed, and selfishness.

Typically liberals are driven by their need for attention, coupled with their hatred of those who succeed and the results of their labor is obvious by the size of their homes, and price of their toys. The jealousy driving liberals is all about justifying taking from those who earned it and keeping t for themselves, not sharing it with the less fortunate.

Have you ever heard of black lived matters giving anything away except lies, blackmail, and violence?

Nope, and it helps you understand what drives liberalism.

When did antifa ever set up feeding stations for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, or give care for abandoned, neglected, or abused children?

When I volunteer after hurricanes and tornadoes, floods and stuff, I have never once seen a table provided and staffed by any far left organization even though they constantly claim moral superiority. Their concept of superiority is all about taking and keeping, not giving and sharing.

The dichotomy that liberals comfortably live with has to be a legitimate form of mental illness. Just like liberals that demand all kinds of bullshit in the name of, 'it's for the children,' then riot because they can't have expanded abortion rights, the hypocrisy is far beyond behavior and into pathology.

I have never in my life understood why American Jews support Democrats.

I once asked Steingar that question and to the best of my recollection he said something like because the Jewish people feel strongly about taking care of those in need and that fits with the Democrat policies around safety nets for the poor, or compassion for those less fortunate or something along those lines.

That makes complete sense when you’re talking about sincere Democrats that actually are altruistic. But I don’t believe the Democrats in power (the likes of Biden, Pelosi, AOC, etc.) give two shits about people less fortunate.

This is also the basis of leftist economic ideology (socialism, communism) where the more productive and more fortunate share and take care of the unfortunate.  This necessitates a system without private property rights.  This kind of system works well on the family and tribal level, and the Jewish people have considered themselves a closed “commune” if you will (such as not marrying outside their circle).

The trouble is, this kind of system doesn’t work at all at the nation state level, or for purposes of allocating resources between small groups or tribes.  For that you need trade, and for that you need private ownership of property and goods and a profit motive. The Jewish people are actually quite good at that, rising in the ranks of wealth in capitalist systems but retaining their compassionate idealism in how they vote.  This sounds hypocritical but it may be less hypocrisy than simply generational habit, much like blacks got stuck in multi-generational loops of voting Democrat.  They may feel they’re doing their part to take care of the poor by voting for leftist policies.

People who vote for leftist wealth redistribution policies come in two basic types: those who use a cloak of fake compassion to gain power for themselves, and those who actually believe policies such as welfare help people but are too stupid and/or uneducated to understand that in reality it has the opposite effect, or, are smart and educated but have certain blind spots.

Jews on average (particularly the Ashkenazi) have higher intelligence than the U.S. average and so like all people with higher IQs fall prey to thinking they actually are more enlightened, and then they go to universities and get brainwashed with leftist ideology that has been taking over our universities since the 1950s.  Having a high IQ allows you to structure complex mental models of how the world “should” work, but doesn’t actually mean you are right and that they would in fact work in the real world.  All you have to do is be wrong about one of your basic premises and your entire theory falls apart.

Leftists have one or more blind spots with their basic premises.  One of them is that the size of the economic pie is fixed.  Another is that what works on the family level can work at the nation state level.

Yet another, and possibly the most insidious, is thinking that one’s action on a problem has only the effect you intend, when in reality your action changes the behavior of the subject and so can backfire and have the opposite effect you wanted. Providing safety nets from starvation lowers motivation to work and be productive, and ends up perpetuating and growing the problem rather than solving it.

Foreseeing unintended consequences is a talent few people possess, even those with high intelligence. Lawmakers miss the boat on that one in nearly everything they do.

Spin Zone / Re: If Trump Dropped Out
« on: January 03, 2024, 09:29:42 PM »
Based on Number 7's premise, do you really think they would chance assassinating Trump?

Yes. Absolutely.

You don't believe they would be smart enough to understand what might happen?

They don't care.  They will burn this whole planet down and kill every last human before they give up their power.

Absolutely.  Why not? They got away with it in 1963.  The CIA and the associated federal machine has never, ever, been held accountable for not only that, but all the corrupt, illegal crimes they’ve committed over the decades. Are we to believe they’ve suddenly become scared of the American people?  Fuck no. They absolutely have plans in place and won’t hesitate to “pull that trigger” if they feel there is no other way to keep him out of the WH.

If Americans and red states throw a fit, they’ll simply double down on totalitarian thuggery. They’ll throw Elon in jail and take back Twitter; open a lot of FISA warrants to read anyone’s texts and emails who indicated any support for Trump or favoring secession; bring false allegations against any alternative media creators who support Trump or secession; bring trumped up charges against all lawyers who attempt to address the election interference, jail them, break them financially; ignore Bruen and go all out on gun control, threaten the SCOTUS justices if they squawk about it; also assassinate any strong leader that breaks out to carry the MAGA torch; arrest any Governor of a state considering secession; invent another fake pandemic and lock us in our homes, restrict travel, and then go door to door looking for “insurrectionists”.

Absolutely correct.  This needs to be repeated, again and again, until everyone understands -- we are fighting the forces evil.  They have never been held accountable and they are still here, controlling the levers of power.
Limbaugh used to say he would keep talking until everyone agrees with him, but sadly, many will go along to get along, because it's "for the greater good" if we'll just give up our agency.  But for those of us who cherish freedom and liberty, as our founders did, we are in for the fight of our lives.

Rush I think the same at least once daily. It’s amazing and scary what’s going on. Fucking Obama, rich now beyond belief living amongst rich white people in a mansion while still pushing this Marxist bullshit. The open boarder is so dangerous, I think it’s only a matter of time before something bad happens.

The dismantling of our election system, the gaslighting about basic biology, the inversion of discrimination reality (highly paid black and female politicians, academics and media diversity hires lecturing us about systemic white racism and misogyny from their very position proving the exact opposite), we are going to completely eliminate fossil fuels when fossil fuels support our entire existence, the explosion of surveillance everywhere erasing any semblance of privacy, federal agencies making lists of political opponents from nothing more than “liking” a DJT tweet, the imprisoning for years without due process of non-violent protestors, the mandate to put kill switches in our cars, I could go on. It’s like a waking nightmare.  This is not my USA.

THE RETIRED HUSBAND

After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to the new Target store.

Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse.

Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:

Dear Mrs. Harris ,

Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. Harris, are listed below and are "documented by our video surveillance cameras":

1.  June 15: He took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking.

2.  July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.

3.  July 7: He made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the women's restroom.

4.  July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.

5.  August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway.

6.  August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.

7.  August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers they could come in if they would bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.

8.  August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' EMTs were called.

9.  September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.

10.  September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.

11.  October 3: Darted around the Store suspiciously while loudly humming the ' Mission Impossible' theme.

12.  October 6: In the auto department, he practiced his 'Madonna look' by using different sizes of funnels.

13.  October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!'

14.  October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed the fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!

15.  Took a box of condoms to the checkout clerk and  asked where is the fitting room?

And last, but not least:

16.  October 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.'

One of the clerks passed out.
